Product Introduction
Ceretide® is a series of advanced functional yeast-derived bioactive antimicrobial peptides developed to contain pathogenic bacteria with certain specificity, support gut health and modulate immune response in livestock and aquaculture systems.
Designed for modern antibiotic-free and reduced-antibiotic production programs, Ceretide® provides a non-viable, defined alternative to conventional antimicrobial feed additives. Rather than relying on live microbes or chemical antibiotics, Ceretide® delivers stable yeast-derived bioactive antimicrobial peptides that interact directly with pathogenic microbial cells and modulate host immune responses.
The range includes three targeted formulations—Ceretide® S for swine, Ceretide® B for broilers and Ceretide® AQ for aquaculture — each designed to address specific pathogen profiles and production challenges across pigs, poultry and aquatic species.
Product Portfolio
Ceretide® S is developed to address Gram-negative enteric challenges, particularly Escherichia coli and Salmonella, which are commonly associated with post-weaning diarrhea and gut instability in pigs and poultry. It is positioned for young animals, esp. piglets, under nutritional and environmental stress.
Ceretide® B is formulated to target Gram-positive pathogens, with a focus on Clostridium perfringens, a key contributor to necrotic enteritis and performance losses in broilers. It supports intestinal integrity and mucosal defense in poultry production systems.
Ceretide® AQ is tailored for aquaculture species such as shrimp and fish, supporting gut integrity and microbial balance under high-density farming and variable water conditions.
Mode of Actions
Ceretide® series have modes of action based on the natural antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), naturally occurring host-defense peptides found across multicellular organisms.
AMPs exploit fundamental differences between microbial and host cell membranes. Bacterial membranes carry a high density of negatively charged phospholipids on their outer surface, whereas animal cells largely present neutral lipids externally. This structural asymmetry allows cationic yeast-derived bioactive peptides to selectively bind to microbial cells while sparing host tissues.
Once associated with microbial membranes, these bioactives act through multiple complementary mechanisms against target bacterial cells. These include destabilizing membrane integrity, limiting bacterial adhesion to intestinal epithelial surfaces, interfering with quorum sensing and virulence signaling, and reducing the ability of pathogens to form protective biofilms.
Because these actions occur simultaneously at multiple targets, the likelihood of resistance development is considered lower compared with conventional antibiotics that act on a single molecular site.
Key Benefits
- Antibiotic-Free Support: Supports gut health and microbial balance in “No Antibiotics Ever” (NAE) and reduced-antibiotic systems.
- Precision Formulation: Targets specific pathogen groups (Gram-negative or Gram-positive) rather than broad-spectrum suppression.
- Superior Stability: Non-viable and non-microbial, ensuring stability during pelleting, extrusion, and across a wide pH range.
- Program Compatibility: Fully compatible with enzymes, organic acids, essential oils, probiotics, and vaccination strategies.
- Safety: Bioactive peptides are biodegraded into amino acids and are not absorbed into the blood circulation, ensuring zero residue.
Frequently Asked Questions
Ceretide® is a functional yeast-derived bioactive product that contains no live microorganisms. Unlike probiotics or traditional yeast cultures, it delivers defined bioactive peptides that remain stable during feed processing and act directly on microbial membranes and host immunity.
Each Ceretide® formulation is designed for a specific pathogen profile and production context. Ceretide® S focuses on Gram-negative enteric challenges such as E. coli, Ceretide® B targets Gram-positive pathogens such as Clostridium perfringens in poultry, and Ceretide® AQ is optimized for gut health support in aquaculture species.
Ceretide® is positioned as a functional alternative within antibiotic-free or reduced-antibiotic programs. It supports gut health and microbial control through a multi-target mechanism rather than direct antibiotic activity.
No. Ceretide® contains no viable microorganisms and no GMOs. Its functionality is derived from defined yeast bioactive components produced during controlled hydrolysis.
Yes. Ceretide® is very thermostable, making it suitable for use in pelleted feeds or even extruded feeds.
Yes. Ceretide® is pH-stable, making it pass through stomach and reach foregut of animals with full activities.
Ceretide® is a series of natural peptides, and will be slowly & gradually biodegraded into amino acids and oligopeptides by pepsin or trypsin, hence loss of activities eventually, and unable to be absorbed into blood circulation from gut. Ceretide® is stable enough to reach foregut of animals instead of hindgut, the main activity site.
Ceretide® S and Ceretide® B are typically used at 400–800 ppm in pig and poultry feeds. Ceretide® AQ is commonly applied at 300–1000 ppm in shrimp and fish diets. Final inclusion rates should be adjusted based on species, age, and health status.
Ceretide® is particularly relevant for antibiotic-free or no-antibiotics-ever programs, high-density production systems, and operations facing recurring gut health challenges such as diarrhea or necrotic enteritis.
No. Our data showed that under 100x concentration of regular dosage of Ceretide® peptides into animals, the target peptide molecules was not detected in the blood all along. Reasons were given in Q7.
